Environmental Policy

Our Commitment to the Albuquerque Area

Demolition and environmental responsibility go hand in hand. Albuquerque Demolition Co works in a high-desert setting where dust, monsoon stormwater, and the Rio Grande valley matter, and we plan job sites to limit their impact on neighbors and waterways.

Recycling & Diversion

We follow applicable City of Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, and State of New Mexico requirements for construction and demolition debris. Where feasible, our on-site sorting process directs recyclable materials — including concrete, wood, and metal — to recycling facilities rather than landfills.

Debris Recycling & Diversion

  • Concrete & Masonry: Transported to local crushing facilities where it is reprocessed into road base and aggregate.
  • Wood & Lumber: Clean wood is separated for recycling into mulch, composite materials, or biomass energy.
  • Metals: Rebar, copper, aluminum, and other metals are sorted and sent to scrap recycling centers.

Hazardous Materials Management

We take hazardous material management seriously. Before any demolition project, we coordinate asbestos inspection and notification under federal NESHAP (40 CFR Part 61, Subpart M) as administered locally under 20.11.64 NMAC by the City of Albuquerque Environmental Health Department, and testing for lead paint and other regulated substances. When hazardous materials are identified, they are handled by licensed abatement contractors in accordance with applicable regulations.

Dust & Air Quality

We use dust-suppression measures such as water on job sites during demolition, and follow City of Albuquerque Air Quality Program requirements where they apply, including stormwater and dust controls during monsoon season, to protect neighboring homes and businesses.
